If you ever find yourself in New Haven, Connecticut, or making the trip between Boston and New York, you absolutely must stop at Frank Pepe’s for a pizza. I normally try to avoid all bread (the devil!) but even I can make an exception for something so delicious. The best time to go is on a weeknight, early in the week. I recently stopped by on a Monday while I was traveling from Boston to NYC and only had to wait about 5 minutes – but on a weekend it can be 30 to 90 minutes!
Frank Pepe’s is the perfect spot to take a break during your road trip, with additional locations in Danbury, Manchester and Fairfield. The prices are affordable – $13 to $18 for a VERY large and satisfying pizza – and you can have a glass of wine or beer for less than $5! I usually start with a salad (pictured above) which is quite good for $3.95.
Next time you’re driving through Connecticut, skip the rest stop fast food drive through and head to Frank Pepe’s – it’s worth the wait and extra time – promise!
